Good news

Wed Mar 11, 2009, 9:04 AM
Some of you may know from previous journals that my son had Hodkins Lymphoma last year and was seriously ill after chemotherapy. He has had his year after chemo scan and visit with the Consultant yesterday and we were told he is all clear. There are no signs on the scan that he had ever been unwell. So we are elated to say the least and now life can hopefully continue with a bit less stress.

Wow Anne, Terrific news! Delighted for all of you and what great news after all you have been through! Love it when someone does get the better of the big C!

I actually thought the news related to your daughter for a minute... which is why I commented as I did the other day.. but this is far better news! Great!!!

My daughter is doing well thanks too, as she is nearly 40 and it's her first they have had to run some tests for Downs syndrome and spina bifida which fortunately are clear they now just want to check the baby's heart so she will be having a baby heart scan.
David took himself off to Australia for 3 weeks surf and it sounds as though he is having a fab time.
Thanks
Anne

I think you mentioned alright that David had a holiday planned... We just found out we are expecting.... My wife is more worried bout my age... I think the Down's / Spina risk is only in older women who have not had children previously if I am not mistaken....

This is gonna be tougher than anything I have ever faced - particularly since we are literally broke and face the imminent possibility of having to go back to Ireland for a few years to raise a child in prohibitive conditions. Typical government - They find themselves in the S**t and who do they hit - The Taxpayer.... No work to be had by the looks of it/massively rising dole cues and they slam those lucky enough ti still have a job... Bloody typical of a bunch of assholes that simply don't know how to manage their own bursary... Borrow, Build, Integrate and spent our taxes paxing over inflated contract prices to half-arsed contractors who drag the job out as long as possible and still do a half arsed job of things...

Look at the Dublin Light Rail Project and that of the Madrid Metro... take into account the money spent, timescale and quality of work... I don't think I ever want to go back to a society like that I'm afraid and when I do I will be doing what I can to get out of there permanently I think!

It's great to hear you are going to proud parents. If it's any consolation there wasn't a lot of money around when mine where growing up. I'm sure you will manage well, and Ireland is a great place. Probably no more work than here. We don't get a lot from our savings and that is what a lot of pensioners counted on. I do still work part time and it's probably just as well.
All the best
Anne
